Uplighting Setup Time
It takes about 1-2 minutes of setup time per uplight. You'll first remove the lights from the packaging, attach the power cable (if wired), and locate around the room. Setting your uplight's color takes just a few seconds. Finally, you'll want to adjust the lights position along the wall for the most uniform look.
Uplighting Comparison
We offer several types of uplights depending on your needs. All our options are LED and can create almost any color.
Most economical uplight | Black Wired Uplight |
RGB Uplight in a white case | White Wired Uplight |
RGB battery-powered uplight | Wireless Uplight |
RGBA ultra battery-powered uplight | Ultra Wireless Uplight |

Uplighting Quantity Recommendations
We recommend anywhere from 10-30 uplights for your event, but the size of your venue & budget will determine your quantity. Check out our general spacing recommendations article on our blog. 6-8 foot spacing will produce a bright space. We recommend that you take your wall length(s) divided by your spacing to get an accurate number of lights.
5 feet | Wall Wash Lighting | A continuous wash of color |
6-8 feet | Maximum Lighting | A bright and bold atmosphere |
10-14 feet | Medium Lighting | Balanced but full wall coverage |
20 feet | Accent Lighting | Simple, yet colorful atmosphere |
Uplighting Rental Cost
Cost for uplighting rentals start at $18 per light for black wired uplights and $19 per light for white wired uplights when you rent more than 9 lights. Expect to spend approximately $200 for a small to medium sized event. If you need wireless lights or have a larger event, your budget should be higher: plan to spend $500-$800.
If you don't need wireless uplighting everywhere, consider some wireless and some wired lights for the best value. These lights operate the same and produce the same colors!
Best Colors for Uplighting
Bright colors seem to work best, but you can make almost any color work! Colors in the reds, golds, and amber families work well, as do greens, blues, and purples. Dark colors (navy, maroon, gray, etc.) don't work well in lighting. Consider a warm or cool white or gold; these traditionally colors never go out of style. Check out our gallery for more ideas, or our color codes page to find your color match.
When to Rent Uplighting
We recommend that you reserve your rental anywhere from 3-6 months prior to your event to ensure availability. Availability varies by season, and our website lists current and accurate availability on any product page.
