Amber Uplighting at a Wedding Venue

Amber is a warm, orangish color. It’s a color you might recognize from old high-pressure sodium streetlights or the color of candlelight. We know it for its warmth and familiarity since the age of light bulbs. It’s for that reason amber is a perfect color for weddings and events that want a pleasant and inviting color that isn’t too bold.

This Lafeyette, Indiana wedding used amber uplighting to transform a drab banquet hall into a lively wedding venue. The event, held at the Lafayette Grand Ballroom (Courtyard by Mariott) in Lafayette, Indiana, decorated with greenery and lighting to enhance the space. This venue is just a few miles from both Purdue University and the I-65 Interstate and provided a great location for over a hundred guests. This couple rented lighting from UplightRentals.com three months prior to the event, and we shipped it so that it arrived on Thursday; the wedding was on a Saturday.

The Lafayette Grand Ballroom hosts dozens of events each month, ranging from weddings to corporate events to athletic receptions. This space had 4 moveable walls to divide up the space, as well as dozens of outlets across the room. Since there was plenty of outlets, this particular venue was perfect for a wired uplight setup. This couple used 10′ cable extensions to connect the lights together.

Amber Wedding Lighting

This couple chose Amber as their venue color. It turned out so beautiful and complemented the existing decor in the wedding reception space. This fall wedding used maroon and gold as wedding colors, but chose to accent the wedding venue with amber uplighting.

Lighting Layout

Laying out uplighting in a space isn’t rocket science – especially in a square room – but there were some unique considerations in this venue:

• Lights were placed at almost every open wall space within 10 feet of an outlet or another light.
• The space had various pieces of equipment – TVs, switches, and speakers – so the lighting was adjusted around the equipment.
• In some cases, an additional light was added to balance out the corners so it didn’t feel dark.

Head Table

At the head table, this couple chose to use green leaf cuttings for decoration. As an accent, they added two strings of white twinkle lights underneath the greenery. Together, the soft twinkle lights and greenery made a perfect yet simple head table decoration. The florist, Another Season out of DeMotte, Indiana used clear packaging tape to secure the leaf cuttings, and the lights tucked underneath beautifully.
